      Generation

You had no time for me.
You had no time for me.
      When I was young.

Now I've no time for you.
Well I've no time for you,
now that you find your time is done.

Now I've no time for you.
      I've no line for you.
I am no mine for you to plunder when you come.

Well I will not scream for you.
I am no stream for you
to dredge 'till I am dry.

I had a dream you know; Oh! I loved it so!
It was original so you flung it from your sky.
      But it will not die.

I had a heart of gold, it was not free, but bold.
I had a love to hold.
You tarnished her with morals that all lie.

I am but a youth you know.
I seek a truth to know.
You're such a sleuth that you are finding only death.

      I am a music man.
      You are pathetic man, and though you never can;
      you sing without a breath.

      Gifts

      When someone lights
      the room around
      with smiling eyes,
      and laughing sound.

      With gentle words
      and listening ear,
      and a comforting arm
      that's always near.

      With patience shown
      in times of strife.
      They give us gifts
      which last for life.

      These gifts can only
      be returned
      when we demonstrate
      the lessons learned.

Gifts Of Love

One can always say something, and then say something else....

You can only say nothing once.

When you have sait that first thing, you can never say nothing again.

If that first thing you said was the wrong thing....

Bring Roses. And a poem.

      Gifts Of Love

      I hope this gift,
      can put a smile
      upon your lovely face.

      Remove the frown
      that for a while
      resided in it's place.

      If words can inscribe
      our hearts with pain
      more words can not erase.

      Perhaps this gift
      of love might then
      remove it without a trace.

Going Down Smooth

When I was young and in the Army, I knew a fellow named John Butler.

He was my hero.

He was handsome. He knew all the right moves. He knew all the right words. He had all the right answers.

He was going to be a General.

He was going to be a Senator.

He was going to be President someday.

He somehow got lost along the way....

      Going Down Smooth

      Well friend we were together.
      Every now and then
      I remember when
we thought how that could never end.

      Now I wonder whether
      you have drifted too far.
Now I wonder if you are....
I hate to think of you
      going down smooth.

      We watched the peoples
      voices fall,
      and be swept unheeded
      up against the wall.

      And standing there
too straight, or tall, or something.
      Yea we were
just about all lost, or young then.

Now I wonder where you've gone.
Oh I thought you were the one.
Well I hate to see it done.
But I guess that you are gone...
      ...or going down smooth.

Thank you for keeping my thoughts alive.

An astute writer once advised all readers: "If you are reading and come upon a word which you do not know the meaning of, immediately, go to the dictionary and find out. Else you might well miss the single most important message in the book!"

I believe this advice could indeed apply to every aspect of our lives.
